Scheme Of Examination & Promotion Rules

The school has evolved a scheme of Examination and Promotion Rules which are consistent with a concept of evaluation developed by the NCERT and promotion policy of Directorate of Education.

Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) refers to a system of school based evaluation of students that covers all aspects of student's development. It is a developmental process of assessment on two fold objectives, ‘Continuous’ emphasizes evaluation of identified aspects of students' growth and development’ built into the total teaching learning process and spread over the entire span of an academic session, whereas ‘Comprehensive’ means to cover both the scholastic and the co-scholastic aspects of a students’ growth and development. The programme of evaluation to various curricular areas is as follows:

Class I & II

There will be only four unit tests, two in each term based on the pre¬determined schedule of 25 Marks each. However, continuous assessment will be carried out on the basis of day to day work. Based on the above mentioned parameters, Grades will be allotted to the students. For Divinity, G.K. and Computer Literacy, oral test of 25 marks each to be taken in the regular periods in each term by the concerned teachers.

Class III to X Evaluation of Scholastic Areas

FIRST TERM

Formative Assessment I (April & May)

Class tests (10 marks in each subjects)
Three activities as per CCE manual - 30 marks weightage-10%

Formative Assessment II (July & August)

Class tests (10 marks in each subjects)
Three activities as per CCE manual - 30 marks weightage -10%

Summative Assessment I (September)

For III to VIII (60 marks paper in each subject) weightage 30%
Except Divinity & G.K. - 50 marks

For IX & X (90 marks paper in each subject) weightage 30%
Except Divinity & Computer literacy - 50 marks

SECOND TERM

Formative Assessment III (October & November)

Class test (10 marks in each subject)
Three activities as per CCE manual - 30 marks weightage 30%

Formative Assessment IV (Classes III to VIII) (December to February)

Class test (10 marks in each subject)
Three activities as per CCE manual - 30 marks weightage 10%

IX & X 10% weightage of P.S.A. all subjects excluding Hindi / Punjabi

Summative Assessment II (March)

III to VIII (60 marks paper in each subject weightage 30%
Except Divinity and G.K. -50 marks

IX & X weightage 30%
Except Divinity & Computer Literacy - 50 marks

Class III to X Evaluation of Co-scholastic areas

For comprehensive evaluation scholastic as well co-scholastic aspects will be given importance. In Co-scholastic areas Grades will be given for Social skills, Thinking skills, Emotional skills, Participation in various activities, Attitude towards teachers, school mates, school programmes, Environment and values and Health & Physical Education.

Class XI & XII

Mid term (September) - 100 marks

For Class XI Annual Examination (March) - 100 marks
Except Divinity & General Studies - 50 marks

Two Pre-board examinations will be conducted for class XII in December.

Students taking admission in class XI should choose the subjects carefully as no change of subject/stream will be allowed in class XII as per C.B.S.E. rules. Admission to Science and Commerce Streams will be based on CGPA obtained in Class X. On every Friday Unit Test / Class Test for Classes I to XII will be held in zero period for a duration of 40 minutes. Schedules for the same are given in the school Almanac.

Promotion Rules

  • Class I to VIII as per Govt. Policy.
  • Class IX & X as per CCE Policy.
  • Class XI & XII as per C.B.S.E Policy.
